Gardening for Free

A session looking at how to make your community gardening project (or your own back garden) more sustainable by recycling materials and using your social capital to get things done for cheap or free.

We’ll be sharing hints and tips on how thrifty gardeners reduce their costs, and build community at the same time.

What is Money?

The supply of money has increased by 70 fold in the last 40 years. Yet the global population has 'only' increased 2 fold. So why aren't we all stinking rich?
Money is manmade. It does not grow on trees, as we are always told. So where does it come from? Who controls its creation & distribution? Why is it always scarce? How come governments created money to bail out the banks, yet have to borrow money to fund services?
If you have asked these questions and want to know how the money system can be changed to serve humanity instead of enslave it, then this is the event for you.

Release your Inner Beatnik: SpokenWord/Poetry workshop and Performance

It's everywhere, in our advertisements, at our sporting events, in our current affairs programmes, it's in Interstellar. It's poetry and it is rising in Belfast! Commenting on our culture with vehemence, self-ownership, non-elitist views and locally based multicultural voices. It is the embodiment of and inspiration for free speech. We want to give you a platform to be heard.

You will create your haiku or hip hop, couplet or clareihew in a workshop facilitated by Shelley Tracey and  Clare McWilliams (Belfast Beatnik) and then perform it before you have time to get nervous or doubt your inner Beatnik. All ages and abilities welcome. So whether you are a slam winner or absolute beginner come along and release the performance poet in you.
